Visit Historical Downtown Sylvania

Welcome to the official website of the Screven County Chamber of Commerce. Our goal is to provide you with a glimpse of a wonderful place nestled between two rivers in southeast Georgia...a place we call home, Sylvania!

Screven County is rich in heritage, historical sites, and it is a community that prides itself on civic minded citizens, efficient governmental bodies, an excellent public school system, a Christian school and an active Chamber of Commerce who all are willing to work together to achieve community goals. Our citizens who feel comfortable, safe, and proud to be part of a growing community treasure the quality of life in Screven County. It is a great place to live, raise children and work.

Whether you are visiting, planning to relocate, or a business prospect, it is our pleasure to welcome you to Screven County's rich tradition of Southern hospitality. We are centrally located between Savannah and Augusta with the Savannah River bordering the eastern section of the county. Our county includes the towns of Hiltonia, Newington, Oliver, Rocky Ford, and the city of Sylvania is the county seat.

If you pursue a more active lifestyle, you will enjoy Screven County's new recreational facility, a new motor speedway, historical sites, a state owned hunting preserve, Millhaven and Wade Plantation, a history museum, Briar Creek, a private golf course, the Ogeechee and Savannah River, and a public regional library. We have 102 churches in the county, 2 shopping centers, 6 motels, a hunting lodge, a senior citizens center, a newly revitalized downtown with two historic cannons, and the oldest Georgia Visitors Center in the United States.

We invite you to join us and discover why Screven County is a unique, small-town, special place that you can call home. Please continue the journey through our internet site and plan to visit us soon.

Sincerely,

Nancy Edenfield
Executive Director
